Have you ever read 'The Gift of the Magi'? Do you like it?

I do like this short story. I have read it in the American short stories course in this semester.
I like the irony theme of the story. And I also impress with the true love that the major characters showed out in the end of the story. The story occurred in the Christmas occasion, the season of giving, Della – a poor lady sold her long beautiful brown hair to have enough money to buy a new platinum watch chain to her beloved husband. Because it was the Christmas time she just wanted to find something special for her lover. She just needed him to use a luxurious thing once in his whole life, but in the ironic ending we found that Jim can’t use that watch chain as Della expected because he sold the gold watch already. On the one hand, to fulfill his wife desire Jim decided to sell his worth heritage – a gold watch. Then he was able to buy a set of fancy combs to give to his lover as a Christmas gift. He knew that Della must like this present and used it to set up her beautiful hair. But his expectation was falling apart when he arrived home and saw Della’s short hair. He was disappointed at first but after he listened to Della’s story - about the cause of cutting her hair, his heart overwhelmed with love.

I read it and like it.It is a story about giving valuable gift to someone who is worthy but they cannot use it.
They gift might be priceless, but it’s useless for the receiver. Although their gifts became useless,
it could show their love and devotion. Jim and Della dared to lose the best thing of them in order to make it the best gift for each other.
They weren't rich but they want to give their lover a gift on Christmas Day which happens once a year.
The gift showed how much they loved each other, and they also want each other to be good-looking having good and worthy thing.
If we were them and we didn’t be in love, we wouldn’t sacrifice our important thing to them for sure.

Yes, I have ever read 'The Gift of the Magi' since I took the American short story class.
This is one of my favorite american short stories because it provide a lot of standpoints.
The main lesson that I get from this story is to give the right thing to the right one.
Sometimes when people want something it doesn't means they'll always want them forever.

The Gift of the Magi is the most favorite short story of merican short stories and novels class. This story talk about a man and a women who love each other so much.
