How do you know that you have gained knowledge , not remembered the text?

In my opinion, to gain the knowledge is to realize what I actually want to know and how I can know about that.
For example, when I was a child, I saw someone riding a bicycle and, I wanted to ride the bicycle too.
So, I asked the others how I could ride it and I practiced riding it. At that moment, I just felt inspired about riding the bicycle and tried to be able to ride it. What I want to say is to gain the knowledge should be realized by yourself from the inner. That’s the thing you feel I have to know about that even though how difficult it will be. After you have comprehended about it, you might feel fulfill and happy because one of your aspirations have been achieved.

If I can remember the rule or main idea in the lesson.
I get the knowledge.
Because I understand the main point.
I think we can't remember the text for long time. It's too short memory.
