Do you agree that grades encourage students to learn?

The purpose of studying is for gaining knowledge.
However, I cannot deny that it is important to give the students grades because it is for evaluation.
If there is no evaluation, they will not know how good thier study is
and what problem about lessons they need to solve.
So it is essential to have an evaluation in studying which we report into grading.
Grading can tell how good your study is, but if you do not have good grades
does not mean you are bad. It just means you should try harder to have better grades.

I think that grade can encourage students to learn efficiently.
Studen will more concentrate about learning.
Learning is meaningful for them.
Moreover, grade can make students know their strength and weekness.
So they can improve or develope theirselves to learn or study better.

Grade is the standard way to evaluate students. Grade make teachers know the students' strength

I think grades can be some kind of motivating factors.
People who say grades are not important usually have bad grades and use that as an "excuse".
Grades reflect your performance on the exams and your responsibility for the assigned works.
I think just stop using it as an excuse. I have bad grades in some subjects and I admit it.
I'm just lazy and stupid.

what you have done in class
you are a hard-working student,
you have a responsibility to do the work, or not.

No I don't. I've got both F and A before and I think the most important thing to make student enjoy learning is teaching style and activites. If you have a very good teaching style and activities for your students I believe that your students would enjoy your class even they don't like that subject.

Grades might help encouraging students to learn. Mostly I think students don't really learn. They will just do the works so that they can pass and get a good grade. I believe that people will only learn when they feel like they need to know something or when they have a purpose for learning and a goal to reach.

I can't say that I agree or disagree about this question.
Grade is not important to students who ignore about the things that they don't want to learn.
Although you give them good or bad grade, they are just don't care.
In contrast, grade can encourage students too. So, it depends on students.
