When I was asked by the question ‘what if someone has done harm to your family?’ I was very confused.
It was like my brain and my mouth were blocked by something.
The dark side in my mind told me that ‘you must give them the revenge’ ‘A life for a life’
by support the death penalty. It will be better to let court handle it rather than
to let the victims carry out the sentence. In the other way, the light side told me that I should oppose the execution. As I am the Buddhist, I was taught that killing is considered as a sin, so ‘forgive’ and
‘give people a chance to change’ will be better.
Moreover, there are many disadvantages of giving the death penalty;
it costs more to kill murderers than to keep them alive,
we will run the risk of killing innocent people
and dying is too easy, if I were a murderer I would rather die than
be kept in prison for the rest of my life.
So, I think it’s better to give them the revenge in other ways instead of the execution.
