What is the problem of teaching English in Thailand?

The problem seems to be that English teachers do not teach children to apply English to their daily life. Students study about vocabulary, grammar rules and do the exercises. They study English only in the classroom after finishing school they have less chances to use English so, they do not realize the importance of language and they will forget what they have learnt in the class. Moreover, English language seems to be looked down as a supplement subject that is not as important as science or mathematics. As you see, students have two classes about an hour per class to study English per week.

What tends to cause Thai student a problem when study English is the student's perspective toward English. Some students are eager to learn but some are not inspired. That might be because they have bad perspective. However, teacher's role is to do whatever to lit up the mind. English is fun and we all can learn it. We could start with game, song or storytelling but if the student are not familiar with the language, it's okay to open some cartoon to the student.
